Adoption Poetry

– adoptionpoetry.org –

Poetry is an art form not everyone is comfortable sharing with the world. The more personal the subject matter, the more private the poet wants to keep it. This goes for anything, from poetry about the death of a child to being stabbed in the back by a good friend.

Life has its seasons, and one day may seem like the best ever, while the next may seem to hold nothing but gloom for you. Regardless of the situation or day, certain people feel more at peace when they are able to put these feelings and emotions down on paper rather than sulk or talk to someone about them.

One's place of solace may be in a big walk-in closet, or a desk facing the wall in the room. Poetry often flows freely, but usually doesn't do the poet much good until he or she is able to share it with others who can, or will attempt to, understand.

For those in the adoption community, their grief, anger, pain, or joy can often only be understood by fellow adoptees, birth parents, or adoptive parents.
